Volunteers: The Heart of our Mission Beats Strong
As December came to a close and the winter holiday season was in full swing, much of our focus naturally shifted towards end-of-year giving. This time of year is crucial for us, as we rely on the generosity of donations to support our program. As one of the largest privately funded senior nutrition programs in the USA, every contribution, big or small, plays a vital role in our mission.
Equally important, however, is our heartfelt appreciation for the extraordinary volunteers who support us during the holidays and throughout the year. At St. Vincent Meals on Wheels, our volunteers are truly the backbone of our program. Under the careful and thoughtful guidance of volunteer coordinator Sonia Sanchez, they give their time to do everything from chopping vegetables and working the tray line to packing thousands of meals and delivering them with a smile. Their visits offer so much more than a meal—they provide human connection, a listening ear, and assurance to our vulnerable and homebound clients, who often express how meaningful these daily and weekly interactions are to them.
Volunteer appreciation goes beyond words—it is interwoven into the fabric of SVMOW’s values. Our volunteers enable us to fulfill our mission, and their dedication and compassion amplify our impact on the lives of those we serve.
To all our volunteers, we express our sincerest gratitude for your generosity and dedication. You are an irreplaceable part of our mission to deliver food and love.
