Volunteer Spotlight: Rick Llanos
This ‘Volunteer Spotlight’ edition focuses on 2023 Hollywood Under The Stars Honorary Host, Rick Llanos. Rick and his family have a history of volunteerism with St. Vincent Meals on Wheels that spans multiple generations. Rick’s earliest memories of St. Vincent Meals On Wheels began in his youth when his mother and beloved, long-time supporter Nelly Llanos and her dear friend Kathy Kilroy began working with SVMOW founder, Sister Alice Marie in the 70s.
“Looking back all these years, I’m so proud to see where St. Vincent Meals On Wheels is today,” noted Rick, “Throughout the years, with my mother as my example of volunteerism, I became more involved with SVMOW in various ways.”
As a Junior Advisory Board member, Rick and his fellow board members were tasked with creating new ways of expanding SVMOW’s profile in the community. They came up with innovations such as the groundbreaking Cart for a Cause food truck, as well as the Cart for a Cause Cookbook which combined two of his favorite things: food and giving back to the community.
Rick and his family continue to be supporters of the SVMOW community and mission, and participate in many of its fundraising events, including the upcoming Hollywood Under the Stars fundraiser. He can always be counted on to spread the word about all the amazing accomplishments of St. Vincent Meals on Wheels.
