Serving Those Who Served

At St. Vincent Meals on Wheels, our mission is to prepare and deliver food and compassion to the homebound and hungry throughout Los Angeles County, including our valued military veterans. Dedicated to providing support and care, we ensure that those who served our nation receive healthy and tasty meals, companionship, and connection. Just as veterans once stood for us, we are proud to stand by them, providing the nutrition and support they deserve.

Many veterans face unique challenges, including food insecurity, mobility issues, and social isolation. By delivering meals directly to their homes and offering friendly visits to brighten each day, we strive to reduce isolation and foster a sense of community and connection.

Veterans like our longtime client Mike A. and our local hero Dan Franco are integral to our community, and their stories inspire us daily. Mike, who lives alone, greatly benefits from the meals and companionship provided by our dedicated volunteers. Dan, a U.S. Marine veteran and longtime Operations Specialist at St. Vincent Meals on Wheels, proudly extends a helping hand to his fellow veterans, viewing his work as an extension of the service ethos that guided him in the Corps.

We recognize that the needs of our veterans reflect those of other older Americans, including health challenges, limited income, and insufficient community connections. Our dedicated team serves as first responders, ensuring veterans receive not only meals but also wellness checks, making us an essential part of their lives.
