Serving Those Who May be Easily Overlooked

“We are all invited to the banquet.” — Luke 14:16-24

In the bustling city of Los Angeles, where life often moves quickly, St. Vincent Meals on Wheels serves as a steady force of kindness and community, connecting individuals from diverse backgrounds and showcasing the strength of our shared humanity.

Driven by the belief that everyone deserves “a place at the table,” the mission of St. Vincent Meals on Wheels focuses on serving those who may easily be overlooked. Our intake team forms the crucial first point of connection for families, friends, and those in need, ensuring that each individual’s circumstances are understood and addressed. This guarantees they receive meals and other services from our dedicated team of kitchen staff, social workers, drivers, runners, and leadership. With open arms, these teams provide food, love, humor, compassion, and understanding to anyone in need, regardless of age, race, religion, or financial status. The only requirement is to be homebound and hungry.

At the heart of our mission are the generous donors whose support makes our work possible. Contributions from both individuals and corporations are the lifeblood of our operation, supplying the resources necessary to reach more people each day.

When we deliver a meal, we often find ourselves enriched by the people we serve. Each interaction reminds us to consider who in our lives might be awaiting an invitation to our table and who longs for us to reach out and welcome them. By making these connections, we strengthen our community, allowing everyone involved to not only survive but truly thrive.
