Meet Saleem

“The Jar of Flour Shall Not Go Empty” – 1 Kings 17:16

In today’s world, many of us are feeling the effects of rising costs. The increasing prices of food, goods, and everyday services have made it particularly difficult for many, especially seniors and others near or at the poverty level. However, even in this challenging economic climate, the power of radical generosity shines through, helping us to offer hope to those who might otherwise feel hopeless.

In moments of personal hardship, coming together as a community can make an incredible difference. When our senior client Saleem faced a major orthopedic surgery that would make it impossible for him to shop for groceries or prepare food, a family member reached out to St. Vincent Meals on Wheels to arrange meal deliveries during his recovery. Although Saleem has since healed, he remains homebound and continues to receive hot meals and the human connection he needs to carry on.

SVMOW is profoundly grateful for the support of donors and volunteers like you whose charitable giving powers our mission. Thanks to your generosity, kindness, and compassion, we are not only able to serve the most vulnerable among us with food and love, but we also continue to expand our reach to an ever-growing number of at-risk seniors and other homebound clients, ensuring that the “jar of flour never goes empty” for those like Saleem who need it most.

Contributions from donors enable us to stretch our resources and extend a helping hand to many more people in need. By supporting our efforts, you help light the way for seniors and individuals at or near the poverty line who, because of your radical generosity, can face daily struggles with dignity and hope.

Thank you for walking this path of generous giving—your support is truly the gift that makes St. Vincent Meals on Wheels and the community we serve thrive.
