Delivering Food, Love, Comfort, and a Sense of Stability

“with loving kindness and tender mercies.” ~Psalm 103:4

In our ever-changing and sometimes chaotic world, St. Vincent Meals on Wheels delivers food, love, comfort, and a sense of stability to the vulnerable, hungry, and homebound seniors we serve. Through our daily actions, we infuse every effort with joy, hard work, and care, offering tender mercies that provide kindness and support to those who need nourishment and human connection.

We deliver meals and offer companionship with a friendly smile and warm greeting, which may be the only interaction many of our homebound clients have on any given day or even throughout the week. We celebrate each client’s unique journey by recognizing their struggles and cherishing joyful moments—perhaps a birthday cake with a candle on their special day or a cozy, hand-knitted blanket to provide warmth on a cold or rainy evening. If we notice someone is unwell or needs assistance, we reach out to emergency contacts, alert family members, and take steps to support the client in the best way possible.

These acts of kindness by our staff and dedicated volunteers bring comfort, relief, and dignity to those who may feel challenged by life’s trials.

In the aftermath of the devastating fires that have affected our neighbors and communities, many are tested by uncertainty and the long road to recovery. St. Vincent Meals on Wheels remains a steadfast anchor, acting with purpose and doing good for those who have less. As Pope Francis reminds us, we must “do good to those unable to reciprocate.”

We embrace the sweet and hopeful moments that tender mercies provide, whether in times of great joy or challenge. The support and generosity of donors like you inspire us to continue performing acts of kindness and grace, reinforcing our steady presence in the lives of those we serve. In doing so, we not only survive but truly thrive.
