Creating a Lifeline of Care and Companionship
“You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” — Mark 12:28-31
This timeless message resonates deeply with the core of our shared humanity and embodies the mission of St. Vincent Meals on Wheels. Respect and compassion unite us, encouraging us to contribute to helping those in need. By reaching out to lift one another, we cultivate a community founded on empathy and cooperation.
In the early days, St. Vincent Meals on Wheels began with just a few pots of stew, as our founder Sister Alice Marie often recalled. The undeniable need in our community, both then and now, drives us to go #BeyondtheMeal. With your generous support, our staff and volunteers offer friendship, compassionate service, and genuine respect to vulnerable Angelenos who are homebound and hungry.
Our program is built on values of simplicity, advocacy for the vulnerable, and limitless creativity. We strive to see and love our neighbors as ourselves, recognizing everyone’s inherent dignity and worth.
Sister Alice Marie often reminded us of the collective effort behind this mission, noting, “I am only helping to deliver what has been provided through a community of generous volunteers and donors.” Your support enables us to prepare and deliver nearly 100,000 meals each month—each one a small gesture of connection and love.
Together, we create a lifeline of care and companionship, reinforcing the belief that love for our neighbors enriches not only those we serve but also ourselves as we serve. In the spirit of St. Vincent and with your continued support, our mission of delivering food and love to those in need continues to thrive .
